Autumn has been beautiful.
When I drive through tunnels of brightly colored leaves
back lit by the sun's weakening hold on humidity and heat
I wish I could keep the visual
I cannot
Behind the beauty I see
wintry skeletons stripped bare and turned brown
and waiting ... waiting... waiting so long ... for Spring to redress

beautiful fall poem - this time of year always strikes me as well: the stunning beauty, tempered by the underlying saddness than the barren winter is but days away.
