West Jessamine High School and the Ford Funeral
News of the ridiculous . . .
My daughter's class at West Jessamine High School watched the funeral of former President Ford during school this week. If you didn't see it, the State funeral took place in a Cathedral. The casket was placed in the center of a cross which was inlaid in the floor.
During the funeral, though, whenever there was a prayer the teacher muted the television because of the prohibition against prayer in school.
It's a silly world out there. Last year at Science Hill (8/9 campus), the principal defended--to my face--a methamphetamine education program that showed pictures of an eight-year-old child who had been burned to death by her addicted parent. That's a healthier image for students than a prayer at a funeral.
I don't have any deep thoughts about this . . . just thought it was worth sharing.
