Providing a series of brief overviews of systems of religious thought and the impact that their universal beliefs and worldview values have upon specific customs, Burnett calls the Christian to engage these systems empathetically and intelligently. This will require the Christian to connect with cultures at levels deep enough to encourage a genuine conversion of thought, not simply of outward forms. "Christian transformation of a culture must primarily be concerned with changing the worldview themes of that culture. (228)" In this pursuit Christians must adhere to biblical principles and recognize "a multitude of cultural forms in which biblical worldview themes can be manifest. (248)"
